Behind every great system lies a period of restless questioning. “The Birth of ME:TRIX” is a curated collection of sketches by Archie, capturing the raw, intellectual labor required to translate the complexity of human existence into a functional toolkit.
These drawings are a testament to a journey that began with the simplest yet most daunting of questions: "Who am I?", "What is this life?", and "What are we doing here?". These postcards feature a selection of the countless daily "scribbles" Archie created while struggling to capture the literal shape of life—the very sketches that eventually evolved into the ME:TRIX life-design system, programs, and books.
The Overview Effect: Perspective as a Tool
The development of ME:TRIX was inspired by the Overview Effect—a cognitive shift experienced by astronauts when viewing Earth from a vast distance. Archie’s mission was to bring this profound perspective to everyone, allowing individuals to view their own lives from a "higher orbit".
In moments when we feel overwhelmed by the immediate problems of daily life, these drawings remind us of our capacity for Metacognition. They are a call to step back, recognize the intricate web of relationships that define our existence, and rediscover our own agency to create subjective change.
